How to Write Blog Posts With AI Without Publishing Generic Slop

A quality-first process for using AI to research, structure, draft and edit useful blog posts.

1. Define the reader outcome

Before prompting a model, state what the searcher is trying to accomplish. Consolidate close keyword variants when one page can satisfy the same outcome; split only when the destination is genuinely different.

2. Build an evidence pack

Collect primary sources for changing facts, product documentation, dates, definitions and any claims that could materially affect a reader's decision. AI can help organize evidence, but generated prose is not itself a source.

3. Design the information architecture

Draft an outline that moves from the direct answer into necessary detail, tradeoffs and next steps. Remove sections that exist only because competitors have them. Add sections when your evidence reveals an important question competitors overlook.

4. Generate in controlled passes

Give the model the audience, scope, evidence and exclusions. For difficult sections, draft separately rather than asking for a single enormous article. Preserve room for human examples, judgment and corrections.

5. Edit for truth and usefulness

Verify names, dates, numbers, feature availability and causal claims. Tighten repetitive language, replace vague assertions with specifics and ensure the opening actually answers the query.

6. Connect and publish

Add internal links where they help the reader move to a parent concept, a related guide or a relevant commercial evaluation. Check metadata, canonical, formatting and mobile readability before publication.
